The energy of Agios Georgios

Many of our guests say they feel a special energy in this unassuming, quiet settlement of Agios Georgios on the southern tip of Antiparos. This feeling is shared by people of all ages, nationalities, cultural backgrounds and spiritual beliefs.

Even if this sounds a bit ‘metaphysical’ it is quite real, and is actually not a new discovery at all;  this little bay has been a safe haven from the elements since antiquity, owing to its extremely privileged location and landscape.

In the centre of it all, since forever

Antiparos lies in the almost exact geographic center of the Cyclades, an island complex that gave rise to a significant civilisation, starting around 5,000 years ago.

Nestled between Antiparos and Despotiko, the shallow bay of Agios Georgios was the last safe port before the long crossing south towards Crete - another great cultural and trade powerhouse of those time.

Seafarers found refuge here, to repair their boats and sails, to rest and to pay tribute to their gods for safe passage. This gave rise to the magnificent Sanctuary of Apollo in Despotiko - now one of the most active and exciting archaeological excavations in the classical world.

Time to experience and explore!

Even if the ancient seafarers are long gone, the timeless appeal of Agios Georgios is instinctively felt by many, as a ‘refuge’ from a frantic and frequently disorienting modern pace of life, as well as a ‘springboard’ for countless adventures and experiences in the Cyclades.

We strive to provide refuge with comfortable, thoughtfully designed properties that allow our guests to connect with the outdoors, but also be protected from them when needed.

At the same time, we hope that we can provide a springboard for exploration and discovery - both on Antiparos and in our Cycladic neighbours, almost all of which are accessible on a day trip!
